Jack and Ennis...

You know, I think i realize why they weren't more put upon because they were both married. THe point was to show that the damage that society was doing to Jack and Ennis, it was also doing to their wives. Sure they loved their wives, but they really deeply and passionatly loved each other. But because of the way that society was around them they had to hide this, and Ennis might not have even known that he could love Jack like he did. BEcause of this they did what every "man" had to do. Get married and father children.

This point in the movie was like a warming breeze on my heart, the kiss. Not like the first kiss, not like what went on up on the mountain. But a different kind of kiss. Two people who were deeply in love who hadn't been able tol see one another for years finally reconnecting. None of the passion lost. The Kiss was Ennis's love for Jack boiled down and purified over several years just erupting and overwhelming Jack.

This point is also where the movie started to break my heart.
