Want to run Vista?

Most of you have heard of windows vista, the soon to come replacement for windows xp? Its been delayed, its been abused, and its been renamed the stupidest name in history. (used to be windows longhorn, kinda a cool name.) Well now its available to the masses. Windows has basically made the beta public. Now, it is a limited beta, so get it while its hot. They havn't actually told anyone what the magic number is, but it will wither up and dry eventually (they say)

This one is a whopper, my computer won't even run it (damned cheap video card, can't run black and white 2 either..... GRRRR!)

The beta, available in English, German or Japanese and in both 32- and 64-bit editions, is Windows Vista Ultimate, the full version of the OS. The code is available either as a free download of an ISO file (an image of the installation DVD that you must burn onto a blank recordable DVD), or you can get it on DVD, in which case you'll have to pay Microsoft for production, shipping, handling and sales tax.

Be prepared to wait however for the download. The two versions that are downloadable are massive. The 32-bit version is a 3.5GB file, the 64-bit version takes up 4.4GB. Microsoft estimates that with a "fast" cable or DSL connection, you're still looking at 4.5 hours to download the 32-bit version and 5.5 hours for the 64-bit edition.

Now, beware there are a tonne of compatability issues, with software, and hardware. Also remember the DRM stuff that they are going to build into it. I don't particularly want this OS, But I figured you might want to try it out.

the specs are:
A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least:

A modern processor (at least 800MHz1).
512 MB of system memory.
A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.

A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:

1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1.
1 GB of system memory.
A graphics processor that runs Windows Aero2.
128 MB of graphics memory.
40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
DVD-ROM Drive3.
Audio output capability.
Internet access capability.

Apparently FOX News anchor Julie Banderas totally lost it on the idiot/bigot Shirley Phelps-Roper. It's just awesome. I love it.
